Kenya’s dramatic scenery, abundant wildlife and rich history make it a classic and enduring safari destination. The Great Migration makes its annual turn in the Maasai Mara and is undoubtedly the highlight for most visitors, evoking the feelings of being on a true safari. The flamingo-filled lakes and forested escarpments of the Great Rift Valley are other grand features that can be woven into a Kenyan safari.
The different National Parks offer much, but are best combined with stays on private or community conservancies where a wider range of activities are possible and private, more intimate experiences are guaranteed. Kenya is a particularly good destination for families with a wealth of safe and fun things to do – from walking, trekking, horse-riding, ballooning, boating, cultural interaction or just enjoying luxury in the wilderness, there is something for everyone. It is excellent for both first-time and experienced travellers who want to dig deeper and go further off-piste.

Animals you’ll see
Linyanti and Selinda in Botswana offer very high densities of elephant in the dry winter months, an attraction all on its own. The diversity of antelope and predators is good here too, including species like the majestic Sable and Roan. The endangered African Wild Dog thrives offers incredible safari viewing in this habitat and denning season from July – Sept is a particular highlight. The now famed Selinda Canoe Trail is another great feature of this particularly wild part of Botswana.
The Okavango is the one destination I will always return to for wildlife action and personal tranquility.
