Game viewing in Zambia is excellent and varied. The wild edge that is the hallmark of safaris in Zambia is to be found in all its national parks. These exist on the mighty Zambezi, Luangwa and Kafue Rivers. The World Heritage Site of the Victoria Falls is easily accessible on the Zambian side of the Zambezi River, whether for a relaxed visit or one filled with adventure activities. One thing you can be sure of here is great hospitality and an abundance of biodiversity – be it the big 5, elephants, antelope or vast numbers of spectacular birds – Zambia has it all.
Travel in land-locked Zambia can easily be a full safari, but it also blends well with other locations in Southern Africa. The overall experience is a fusion of wilderness, big rivers, remote camps & communities and a return to the roots of early safaris.
Highlights
- Walking safaris along the wild rivers of South & North Luangwa National Parks
- Exploring the recovering Liuwa National Park in the far west to experience the continent’s second largest wildebeest migration and attendant predators.

- Flying north to witness the annual bat migration in Kasanka and prehistoric Shoebills in the Bangweulu swamp
- The beauty, fun and adventure to be had at the mighty Victoria Falls!
Animals you’ll see
What an absolutely incredible experience – our Zambian safari has been a joy from start to finish! Too many highlights but the lions in Busanga and walks in Luangwa were tops. Thanks to all at Mammoth for putting this together.

Zambia offers travellers a great deal of diversity, warm hospitality, owner-run camps and exceptional game viewing, regardless of which part of the country you chose to explore.
Walking safaris, conservation safaris and bat migrations are some of the incredible elements to incorporate into planning safaris into Zambia. Many good camps offer excellent walking opportunities – along languid rivers and through leafy woodland where the elephants roam. Flying between parks is the best way to travel and all the key areas have airstrip access. Some activities and specific wildlife attractions are seasonal, so this is worth planning in advance for the right time and place to bring your Zambian safari to life.
